As 2014 comes to a close....

Paul Loader - Saturday, December 27, 2014

As 2014 comes to a close we at CARAT would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us throughout the year. The list is long but a MASSIVE  thank you to everyone.

We thought it only fair to list a few of the fundraising events which have taken place in 2014 that have enabled us to reach further than ever before to help more people help the animals in their care.

In June, our friend Ibi Ford completed her first ever race, a 10k that she ran to raise sponsorship for CARAT

It would appear that she now has the bug, as she has already told us in 2015 she will be entering Hell Down South which is in a few weeks time. Thank you Ibi

Back in July CARAT supporter Sarah Cotton embarked on a truly epic adventure. She decided to swim Lake Windermere not once but twice. A total of 21 miles.

Here is Sarah relaxing before embarking on her gruelling challenge

Sarah completed her swim in a fantastic time of 10 hours 7 minutes

Then, in August, our friend Noel embarked on an equally ridiculous challenge.

He decided he would enter a race on behalf of CARAT that would see him run round the entirety of the Isle Of Wight. 66 miles

Bloody mad? Yes thats what we thought :)

Here is Noel crossing the finish line 15 hours after starting. Thank you SO much Noel xx

I'm sure you will agree he & Sarah`s efforts were above and beyond the call of duty but between them they raised just over £1500

Over the course of 2014 we have been very lucky to have been helped by a very special young lady Becky Folkard, who has organised charity auctions for us on Facebook. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine they could raise so much money for CARAT and be so much fun in the process.

Below is a picture of Becky with one of her rescues.

Our Facebook friends will already know this, but for those of you who aren't on  Facebook Becky's auctions this year have raised a staggering £10,250 plus!! Amazing eh?

We very much hope Becky will run more auctions for us in the future as this money really has proved to be a life saver in every sense of the word.

Last but by no means least we would like to thank Linda & Nikos for their continued support and for their latest fundraising event for CARAT whereby £162 was raised by a tombola with their clients at their Roseburn Hydrotherapy Centre

On behalf of both Titch and I, we would just like to thank everyone who has donated, sponsored, taken part, shared our posts, given up their time, money and sanity for CARAT.

Without all of you we would never be able to help the people we now do. We pride ourselves that every penny raised goes directly towards animals in need. We have no overheads to pay and all the work we do is entirely voluntary.

I hope in 2015 more of you will join us and together we can raise even more money which will in turn help even more animals.

Happy New Year everyone
